Paul Goble was born September 27, 1933, in Haslemere, Surrey, England. His interest in Native American legends began when he was a small boy in England, where his mother read the books of Grey Owl and Ernest Thompson Seton to her sons. Richard Erdoes was born July 7, 1912, in Vienna, Austria. He studied art in Vienna, Berlin, and Paris.
